5 Tips For Cooking A Perfect Steak

By Cooking with Lillian

If you want to achieve the best and perfectly cooked steak, you will have to consider several factors first. These factors will not rely on cooking alone, because in order for you to achieve the perfect steak, you will have to start considering the type of steak that you will buy, the preparation, the cooking process, and the presentation.

Buying Your Steak

  • Did you know that the taste and the texture of your steak will rely on the quality of the steak that you buy? Yes, that is true! No matter how good you are when cooking it, if your steak is not fresh, you will not be able to make the perfect steak.

  • You should also know the type of cut that you want for your steak. Certain types of cut work best for certain steak dishes.

Preparing Your Steak

When cooking steak, you have to make sure that it is properly thawed already, and already at room temperature before you season it or marinate it. To do this, make sure to remove your steak slice out of the freezer and let it sit (do not soak in water) for at least 20 to 30 minutes.

When the steak is completely thawed, dry it, to remove the excess water, so your steak will perfectly grill on a griller.

Cooking The Steak

Normally, the best way to cook the steak is to grill it. Many people love the slow cooking process of grilling, plus the smokey taste really adds up to the delicious taste of the steak.

Here is a guide on how to grill the steak:

  • Cooking it 5 minutes on each side – you will get a rare done steak

  • Cooking it 7 minutes on each side – you will get a medium rare

  • Cook it for 10 minutes on each side – you will get a perfectly done steak

That should be your guide when cooking steak on a medium heat grill. However, you might still want to check your steak from time to time, because the heat may vary and you might end up with a tough and burnt steak.

When you are done cooking your steak, remove it from the griller, and place it on a plate and cover it with an aluminum foil. This will lock in the heat inside, so the steak will continue cooking from the inside. Let it rest for at least 30 minutes, before actually serving it.

You can serve steak in various ways. You can serve it with a nice side dish like mashed potatoes, potato wedges, coleslaw, some sautéed greens, and so much more!

Serve your steak with a nice gravy on top. If this is something you have not done from scratch yet, there are actually easy to prepare steak gravy in so many different flavors that you can buy in stores.
